Hussars, Lions, Badgers and Boars!

The Heisenberg-Hasenpfeffer Hussars arrive in Soweiterstadt.
The Hasenpfeffer-Heisenberg Hussars command, lead by Colonel Oddkugel (in the middle).
And some of the animals in the Soweiter National Tiergarten -

That pre-eminent natural pfilospher from Pfennig-Pfarthing, Pfrank "bring-dem-back-alive" Bach has identified this as a Scandalusian Badger.

Herr Bach says this is a Stagonian Vile Boar.

And what's a zoo without a few lions (now we just need some lionesses!).

From the Days of Legend

A couple of dwarf lads from the Highlands (Fantasy minis I painted a while ago and finally finished off).

Population Increase

More people are appearing in Soweiterstadt, from the high and mighty like the general to more humble servants like Chives, from young to old to the "commanding" presence of officers and banner bearers. The new government is establishing its capital.
(looks like someone needs to mow the grass, though)

Vexed Vexillology

Played around with flags some more. Although I keep trying to work a saltire into my flags I'm leaning towards the second version here with the quatrefoils in the corners. Any thoughts?

More Uniform and Flag Tryouts

First up, a flag for Santa Sofia. I'm pretty happy with this. The eagle should appear practically solid black.

Second, a flag for Ballyfoole. I'm not sure about this one. Might tweak it some more.

And finally, I tried reversing the red and green for the uniform of the Fuselli Fusiliers of Santa Sofia. I think prefer the other version with the red coat. Maybe if the Santa Sofians get another foot unit I might give them the green coat version (thinking a light/jaeger-type unit, the ____ Cacciatores).

Possible Uniforms

As seen above, the County of Santa Sofia of the Soweiter League is in the process of selecting new uniforms from the fine emporium of Messrs. Tipplebruder. These will be for the Fuselli Fusiliers (I know the minis are supposed to be musketeers, but Fuselli Musketeers doesn't have quite the same ring!). The Fuselli Fusiliers are led by Colonel Giuseppe "Big Joe" Fuselli.

Here are a couple of prospects. The Conte Luigi Funiculi-Funicula of Santa Sofia favors the red/green/yellow combination (the Contessa Rafaella Funiculi-Funicula thinks the Conte is a bit color-blind - ha ha - but she's content to let him have his pretty uniforms). "La uniforme e bella!"
Comments and opinions are welcome.

(still stumbling around not having much luck with the pixellated bitmap versions of the templates I brought a couple into Adobe Illustrator, used live trace and live paint to convert and color them)

More pictures from the brush of Rubenstein

Colonel Kelly himself, of the Ballyfoole Grenadiers.

The Duchess of Grand Thidwick, Catherine Zeta Figg-Newton, the Barefoot Duchess (for her penchant for going barefoot).

Advance scout. The first trooper of the Hasenpfeffer-Heisenberg Hussars reporting for duty. The rest of the unit, as well as their commander Colonel Oddkugel, should be arriving shortly.
(apparently the famous painter, Peter Paul Rubenstein, has some difficulties with depicting eyes...)

E Omnibus Unicorn

An important decision has been reached to adopt the unicorn as the national emblem, with the above flag as the national flag. Most units will carry standards based on their own states' flags, but there may be national units in the future which carry a variation of the Unicorn Jack as their standard.
