And so good and proud do they look!
Will they display, as regimental badge, a sea horse on their guidon?
Cheers,
Jean-Louis

Horse marines? a great idea but a horse swimming introductory course would be mandatory!

The few Dragoons involved in the British descentes on French shore were indeed nicknamed 'Navy Dragoons'.

"He's Captain Jenks of The Horse Marines.
He feeds his horse on corn and beans,
and often lives beyond the means of a Captain in the Army!"

This is the refrain of a square dance call that was popular in the 1920's here in the Midwest.

Great looking troops. I will be sending your blog link to Larry Brom (of The Sword and the Flame) who is a old timer Marine. I'm sure he will enjoy these troops!

Thanks, guys!
Not sure how well this shows up in the photo, but the coat color is navy blue, with light blue facings; the drummer has the reverse (first time I've reversed colors on a musician in any of my units).

Jean-Louis, I haven't come up with a guidon yet, but I may see about putting a seahorse on it. Thatks for the suggestion!
Rafa, I think the riders might be more in need of swimming lessons than the horses! lol
Martin, I recall you mentioning that little ditty. Makes me chuckle.
Jim, cool! I got a lot of enjoyment from the TSATF rules back when they first came out and I had a couple of friends to game with. I bought the reprinted rules a few years ago and hope to use them again some day (a distant future project I want to take on is a Colonial campiagn ala Gunga Din, Zulu, Mafrica, etc.).

Very nice! =) And the regimental sport is, of course, water polo...
