Well, dragoons anyway. These are the Poupon Dragoons of the Haute Cuisine region of Batrachia. They are led by Colonel Moutarde as part of the Batrachian Observation Army currently "observing" parts of the Soweiter League.

I hate to be the one to suggest it . . . I really do because I LIKE the look of your figures.
But, shouldn't the Poupon unit led by Col. Mustarde . . . I mean, shouldn't they be riding "greys"?
Lovely looking figures and great names (I really like them).

Ooh, Purty. I really like the use of the yellow coats. You've done an excellent job on them.
Very good-looking (and rather impressive) 'observers'.
Did Col. Moutarde dressed his regiment in the yellow of the Moutarde livery?
Loooking forward for more details about these two intersting units.
Compliments,
Jean-Louis
You're right, Jeff, that would've made sense. I didn't think of it until I had finished them. I haven't decided yet if I want to go back and repaint the horses.
("corrected" the spelling to Moutarde - although I think Mustarde was fine, too - could be a place called "Mustardy" ala Picardy and Lombardy, huh? So the coats could be Mustardy yellow)
:-)
Thanks for the comments!
(I did delete one "comment", that only gave a url to some irrelevant site - that was the 2nd time I had to do that - may have to institute "screening". Does anyone know if it's possible to set the comments to allow specific users to post? and to moderate all others?)
Maybe you could get a second unit of unpainted fgiures of the same type; paint their horses as greys; and switch the brown horses to the new unit just by swapping riders rather than repaint the browns?
BTW, I've got three Duke of Cumberland figures (one old Front Rank; one redesigned Front Rank; and the Old Glory one) that I'm using for character figures to match overweight guys in our club. (Including me, unfortunately.) That is the Front Rank Cumberland figure, isn't it?
Actually, I guess it's not the Cumberland figure after all. Is it a Foundry Russian general as the Errishman?
Re: the comment with simply a link to an irrelevant site. Anyone who did click on that one needs to run a virus scan sweep if they didn't get a warning about it. Two trojan horses in the files it sends down to your browser, according to my virus scanner.
SC - I hope nobody got bit by that. I don't click on stuff like that myself.
andygamer - unfortunately the glue I use to glue the riders to the horses is pretty strong stuff. I'm not sure I could unhorse the men without removing too much of the paint and/or causing other damage.
You are correct, sir! It's a Foundry Russian general. :-)
Nice looking cavalry regiment

What manufacturer are the figures, by the way? Cavalry and officer.
SC-
The minis are all Foundry. I know they aren't cheap and the style doesn't appeal to everyone, but I like the style, the variety, the various characters and civilians, etc.
Nothing to apologize for there. We all have our varying tastes in figures. I'd have some Foundry myself if they weren't so nastily expensive, especially from the US. They've got some very interesting characters, and some civilians I'd love to have.
Hi
The look of the officer is impressive. It seems an old colonel
My compliments

Lovely figures, Fitz! I doff my tricorn to your painting ability. The dragoons look very much like a regiment I have in mind for the Margravate.
Very enjoyable blog, thank you.
You seem to do very well with Foundry figures. That is not meant as a back handed complement! They are by no means my favourite figures but you have made them look much better that they usually are.
I also like the yellow coats, difficult to avoid them looking like road men but a very nice subdued shade here. I like the details on the generals horse , eyes and hooves especially.
These Batrachians are doing a lot of 'observation', perchance will this year of action on so many other fronts will the Batrachian Army take to the fields of Mars also?
to Murdock:
Yes, I do believe there will be some action this year, hopefully before Summer (maybe a Spring Fling - oh, but I would want some Hghlanders for that - how about a "Spring Forward"?).
I think I have enough units to do a small battle like the "Action!" in Grant's "The War Game" (although my units have fewer figures than his and I don't really have any light inf. yet, but that's ok).
I am hoping to use Bluebear Jeff's Tricorne rules to play a solo game one of these days.
Currently I am making slow but steady progress on painting and don't want to lose the "rhythm".
