...that's charming - what did you use to make it???

Hi Fitz!

I went to high school with a large family of rural/farm kids with the last name of Offenbacker. Your map looks like the kind of place they would have come over from.
How does it fit into the rest of your realm?

Yours,

Martin

I drew the first draft with paper and pencil, inked in the line work, scanned the black and white drawing onto my computer, did live trace in Adobe Illustrator, colored the different parts, added text, then did a little further processing in Photoshop.

Once I get the process down to my satisfaction I plan to do the other states as well (and probably Batrachia, or parts thereof). Each state will stand alone like this. As to how they all fit together that is anyone's guess (it may be they fit together in multiple ways or not at all! lol). :-)

Now that is one impressive map! There are pieces of map-making software out there which look worse! It's brilliant to see this sort of thing, and thanks also for posting your explanation.

That is an awesome map! It reminds me a bit of some of the Tolkien maps. I love it.

Very nice map, Fitz! It has a period charm all of its own. The use of small town images is inspiring, I think I'll borrow it if I may.

Yes, it is a very nice map ... and makes a true imagi-nation ... as the actual (don't like that word in this context, but can't think of anything really acceptable) Offenbach is clearly illustrated in the many maps which I've looked at for Frankfurt am Main ...
for modern maps, I've found the multimap.com site excellent as you can also take a gander at arial photos of the same spot in same scale ... and figure out the lay of the land and similar considerations for a game...
