Uniforms and a Flag

Just to see what a coat or vest and trews might look like if done up in plaid...
The flag of Bossanova, known as the "Boar Sinister".

I like that national standard . . . very striking!

Indeed!

Now, as for vest and trews done up in plaid... why not, if worn with a bonnet? They are very, very few historical exemples of coats (and, more generally, 'typical Western European Lace Wars uniforms') made of non-plain fabric: actually I know only 1 unit of militia illustrated in the Osprey 'Louis XV Oversea forces'. So with a tricorn, I guess I should find it "extreme". But with the bonnet anybody associates with tartan it looks far less 'surprising'....
Thanks for all these illustrations!

Compliments,
Jean-Louis

The plaid trews and the plaid jacket were done as a sort of joke for my own amusement. Good point about the bonnet. Plaid trews and vest would probably look "correct" that way.
Not sure I would ever get around to doing it though. First priority for "Scottish"-type troops for me is some Highlanders in kilts (some day...).

Indeed I endvisaged to combine the upper part of a Highlander with the lower part of a Grenzer, with the tight-fitting trousers in tartan!
This, for descendant of mercenary Scots settled somewhere in Croatia or Ruritania: too many thorny bushes & scrubs here to remain in kilt!

Someday I may try to 'cut & paste' two of David's templates - *if* my skill with the computer drastically increases and I buy an adequate software...

Oh no - that plaid jacket is truly hideous! I'm so glad it is just a joke... ;-)
