Thanks! You might think there was some Welsh influence in Grand Thidwick (what with the red dragon - "y draig goch"). The duchy was founded by a free company of Englishmen along with Welsh bowmen, led by the first duke, Sir Roger Thidwick. And still to this day immigrants from Blighty supplement the native population.

Not necessarily, Martin - I steal (I mean, I find inspiration) from all over - so there is the Dr. Seuss reference, an allusion to Grand Fenwick, places names inspired by the works of P.G.Wodehouse, etc.
